1970-1980 Expansion

After finishing her postgraduate studies in the US, Dr. Betty Chan Po-king, Madam Tsang's daughter, returned Hong Kong to succeed her mother and take on her commitment to education, introducing the concept of early childhood education to Hong Kong.

Yew Chung led the reform in early childhood education. The open classroom concept and learning through play were brought in and promoted with continuous reviews and improvements. Partnership with the family in the education of the child was also emphasised. Yew Chung also targeted the upgrading of the quality of teaching with teaching staff receiving close supervision and guidance in work. Various training courses and workshops were also conducted for the enhancement of teachers' quality at Yew Chung.

During this decade, the two pioneers, Madam Tsang and Dr. Chan, led Yew Chung's expansion from one school with two students to 1500 students in seven campuses in Hong Kong.
