Rise and Shine, Yew Chung ECE

Yew Chung founded one of the first kindergartens in Hong Kong some 85 years ago, pioneering what were then the radical concepts of Early Childhood Education (ECE).

Today, true to its ECE roots and educator heart, YCEF is proud to introduce an ambitious, on-going project: The creation of Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE), a tertiary teacher training college in Hong Kong, upgraded from Yew Chung Community College, with a new campus slated to open in 2018!

Let’s begin with YCCECE’s visual identity:

❨❩ Latitude and longitude – a homage to master Tai-keung Kan’s original logo design, we pared it down to the Earth’s lines and celebrated them

❨❩ Tertiary Education – the beginning of complex, endless discovery of our positions in the world, of ourselves

❨❩ True East x West bespoke typeface – English is Yew Chung Display; Chinese is Yew Chung Ming 耀明體. English R has the Chinese-like stroke 捺; Chinese character 敎, in its ancient form, has the English-like X

❨❩ Early Childhood Educators – shapes of humans (人) cradling, guiding, supporting each other
