Yew Chung and Yew Wah marked their 87th anniversary this year! It is our tradition to gather together and celebrate this important moment and also to commemorate our founder, Madam Tsang Chor-hang also known as Hau Cheung Po Po on the second Friday of October each year. Through a series of activities, we deliver positive energy and spread the Yew Chung and Yew Wah spirit! This year, we not only celebrate our 87th anniversary, but also the 20th anniversary of Yew Wah International Education School of Yantai. On this very special day, Director Dr Chan Po-king and Chairman of Hong Kong Yew Wah International Education Foundation Professor Yip Kwok-wah visited Yantai to celebrate with colleagues and guests the two important milestones!

In the tradition of Founder’s Day, all Yew Chung and Yew Wah students and teachers from Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, Qingdao, Yantai, Guangzhou, Tongxiang and Silicon Valley in the US sent their blessings and shared happiness together through the live stream in the morning of October 11. All Yew Chung and Yew Wah schools around the world then continued the day with various activities for our students from different year groups to promote the sense of belonging and team spirit. These activities also allowed all students and teachers to remember the school’s philosophy and the school’s spirit developed by our beloved Hau Cheung Po Po!

Through a series of Founder’s Day activities, everyone enjoyed being a part of the Yew Chung and Yew Wah family, and the exchanges between teachers and students as well as their connections with the school were enhanced. Let us remember this important day to honour our founder and celebrate this special milestone, and continue to demonstrate the perfect Yew Chung and Yew Wah spirit!

It was a wonderful evening spent with our alumni and staff on September 27, 2019. Time was spent networking while waiting for the mouthwatering Chinese cuisine at the Shanghai Fraternity Association, and memories all flashed back to the days at Yew Chung. A big thanks to Mr. Wayne Tai, the president of the YCYW Alumni Advisory Board for his generous wine sponsorship to this amazing evening!
Although we all came from different year groups, time is nothing but a number in front of the same culture, memories and education we shared. There are no barriers between different year groups; no matter if you are a Class of 1997 or a Class of 2013, we all shared laughter and joy together while exchanging contacts to maintain the YC relationship and looked forward to a chance to support each other in the future.
Although Dr Gary Morrison couldn’t make it with us that day, he was very happy to learn about the wishes and prayers for him and excited to see on us the success of Yew Chung’s education. We sincerely hope that Dr Morrison will recover soon and see him again in Hong Kong!
We may have left Yew Chung for a bigger journey, but the connection with our alma matter brought us all back together! It was great seeing you all, and I’m sure we will meet again in future alumni events!
Our first ever Seoul Alumni Gathering has been a blast with over 40 participants from YCIS Beijing, Shanghai and YWIES Yantai attended this special evening at On the Border in Itaewon. We are honoured to have three special guests from YWIES Yantai, Co-principal Mr. Aaron King, School Business Manager Ms. Melody Long and the Head of Parent Teacher Liaison Ms. Grace Kim to be with us that day.
Even though Dr. Chan wasn’t able to be here herself, she sent her warm greetings to our fellow alumni in Korea via a short video. The programme was then followed by an inspirational and meaningful speech given by Mr. Aaron King showing his love to our lovely alumni. The room was filled with chatting and laughter while everybody were enjoying Mexican rice bowl and burrito for lunch. Just before the dessert was served, a presentation was given to share the new developments and new projects of the Alumni Relations Office, including many exciting new benefits and services. Through a game of guessing campuses from pictures, we were able to get a glimpse of the school campuses new appearance after renovation, and it was also a chance for them to learn more aboutYCCECE, The Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education.
We are more than happy to see how our alumni are engaged and attached with their alma mater and show huge interests in the upcoming development. We will definitely meet you again in Seoul. Hope to hearing from you and don’t hesitate to share your thoughts and experience with us.
On Sunday 24th June 2018 evening, Yew Chung Alumni Association held the biggest event in our alumni history. Over 140 alumni, parents, former staff and guests gathered together at the prestigious W Hotel Hong Kong, celebrating the 85th Anniversary of our alma mater. It was truly a wonderful night filled with fond memories, vibrant energy and smiling faces! Heartfelt thanks to our sponsors who generously supported the event with gifts and donations. We hope you had enjoyed the lovely evening and wish to see you all again in our next alumni event.
